Intimacy
In the past I thought of intimacy only as a sexual type of connection. Not until I did some growing up, did I realize that it’s not just about sex rather it’s about being close to another person. In active addiction the only true form of intimacy I had was either when I used someone for drugs or for various other reasons or when others were using me. Coming into recovery I have found a healthier way of being intimate with others. Throwing down my walls and opening up to new people has helped me connect on new levels that I never thought were possible. Being intimate with those I choose to call family or friends is very important to me. Being intimate helps me learn how others internally work to improve current relationships, future relationships, and hopefully will help me in finding my future wife. I will use the tools and experience of all that I have learned in recovery to better my future, with a lot more intimacy.
